Pappus and the Milkweed

Pappus House offers an ideal reflection of our mission.

The milkweed, our logo, is symbolic of our seasons in life and the many stages of growth and transformation. The milkweed is the singular food source for the monarch butterfly, a symbol of rebirth in many cultures around the world.

Pappus are the silky white translucent filaments attached to seeds, which surrender and release themselves from the milkweed’s fruit pod in late fall. At the proper time, with the help of the wind, they are carried to new destinations and beginnings.
