Join Pappus House for the 7th Annual Lanterns of Light event to celebrate the lives of all our loved ones who have gone before us.
Lanterns of Light is our annual memorial event — held each October to remember our Pappus House residents and loved ones from across our community.
Participants decorate and personalize floating lanterns in memory of beloved family, friends, and pets.
Hundreds of lanterns are then launched into the pond at Cousler Park in York. As the sun sets, the lanterns illuminate the tranquil waters — a beautiful sight of peace, love, & connection.

To participate, reserve your lantern through the printable form or online form below. A limited number of lanterns will also be available the night of the event.
At the event, you will have the opportunity to personalize and decorate your lanterns.
Plan to bring a camp chair or blanket to watch the program and launch.
More event details will be emailed to all participants in early October.
If you are unable to attend the event, we would be happy to decorate your lanterns for you.
If you would like our volunteers to decorate your lanterns, please email office@pappushouse.org and include the names to be remembered and any images you would like us to use in the design. (If you already included this information in the order form, no need to send again.)

Every Spring, Pappus House hosts a unique fundraising event, bringing together friends, food, and flowers — in support of our mission. Each year’s party is held at a different outdoor garden venue.
Join us for our next Garden Party on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at TWO HARTS in Spring Grove, PA. Check back for ticket sales beginning in March.

Speaker Events
We welcome the opportunity to speak with groups about Pappus House and our mission, as well as hospice, in general.
Hospice and end-of-life care are often topics avoided in conversation. Our presentations aim to bring awareness to hospice in general, as well as the services offered at Pappus House, including the benefits of a peaceful, dignified home setting during a loved one’s final journey. Our goal is to ensure that our neighbors know that Pappus House is a local option for families, as an alternative to institutional care.
Our speakers will provide information about:
- What hospice is
- How and where to receive hospice services
- Our Pappus House mission
- Special events
- Volunteer opportunities
Some of our speakers are family members of past residents and can share their personal experience and the impact Pappus House had on their family.
